Security advisory
Larger organisations employ someone whose job is deciding what security work matters and in what order. A twenty-person business has the same questions and no such person, so the decisions get made by whoever is loudest — usually a vendor.
This is that role, bought by the hour. It is advisory: the work is deciding what to do, in what order, and what to ignore.
What it covers
A clear-eyed look at what you have and where it is genuinely exposed, turned into a short ordered list. Most small businesses do not need more tools; they need the four things they already own to be configured correctly and one gap closed that nobody had noticed.
It also covers the paperwork side that arrives unannounced: the security questionnaire a larger client sends before renewing, the insurer asking what controls you have, the contract clause about breach notification.
- A written risk picture in business terms, not a scanner printout
- A prioritised list, with the things not worth doing marked as such
- Help answering client and insurer security questionnaires
- A second opinion before buying security tooling
What it is not
This is a small New Jersey practice offering practical guidance, not a certified compliance auditor. If you are pursuing a formal certification, or you are in a regulated sector that requires an accredited assessor to sign the work, you need a firm with that accreditation and we will tell you so.
The line is simple: we can help you be genuinely more secure and answer most questions a client asks. We cannot issue an attestation, and any provider your size who says otherwise is worth a second look.
Common questions
A client sent us a security questionnaire. Can you help?
Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons people call. The work is usually two parts: answering accurately what you already do, and fixing the two or three answers that would otherwise be no before they are sent.
Do we need this if we already have managed IT?
Often not — under ongoing support most of this is already happening. It matters most when nobody has stepped back and asked what the actual risks to this specific business are, as opposed to whether the tools are running.
No obligation
Talk it through first
Tell us what's happening and we'll give you an honest read on what it needs — including if that turns out to be nothing. We work across Middlesex, Somerset, and Mercer County.
